I am starting this GoFundMe to help Kayla in covering the vet bill that accrued trying to save her foal “Dolly”.
If you’ve ever bred a mare, you understand the long wait and the buildup of excitement as you get closer to foaling day. Ivy had a typical pregnancy, and as she got closer to her safe date, Kayla started preparing her area for the barn's new arrival. Then things suddenly changed. The morning of May 6th, she got a call from the ranch manager that we needed to get there as soon as we could as there was a baby on the ground. At just 319 days gestation, everybody was fearful and in hopes that the baby was okay.
When we arrived at the ranch, we snapped right into action. The baby was not up, and we knew we needed to get her to a warmer area. After being in contact with the local vet, we made the determination that she would need to go to emergency care at a larger facility that could handle a case like hers. Dolly received lots of care in the ICU; she really had the works. After day 2, even with all the care she was given, she had declined quite significantly. That night, Kayla got the call from the vet that Dolly had stopped breathing.
Unfortunately, although Kayla did not get to bring home her precious baby, she is still left with a very hefty vet bill. If you have the means to donate to help support and relieve her of some of the financial stress this situation has put on her, that would be amazing!
