Hi everyone! We apologize for the silence. We (and mom) are finally home from the hospital after 13 days. Thank you all for the privacy as we have tried to navigate this unexpected and devastating road. I am not sure how to share this news gently so I just have to say it. We have a village of family/friends that we love and respect and want y’all to know what happened. We just needed some time.
On the evening of June 29th my mom went into labor. For those that didn’t know details, she had a planned c-section on July 5th and her original due date was the 9th. She labored at home for about an hour to confirm it was indeed active labor and then we headed to the hospital. Unfortunately we were not greeted with any sense of urgency. With that being said, something went terribly wrong while we were at the hospital waiting for care and for a c-section to take place. In that precious time we lost baby Kaydee Rey. We are still not sure how or what happened. We hope to have those answers soon. Unfortunately the story doesn’t end there. Kaydee was delivered by c-section at 12:09am on 6/30/22. Beautiful and perfect, but stillborn. Our devastation is beyond words. We found out quickly that something wasn’t right with mom after delivery. The Dr discovered that during labor her uterus had completely ruptured from the top all the way to her cervix. Like a zipper opened up. They did an emergency hysterectomy and after 6.5 hours of surgery, 11 units of blood, 5 units of plasma, 5 units of platelets and a team of about 30 specialists, Dr’s, nurses and techs… They saved her life.❤️ She/we are beyond grateful but devastated at the same time. It’s such a strange emotion to feel together. After a long rough road to recovery, mom is finally home. She still has a long road but doing better everyday.
We are expecting some astronomical expenses after what has taken place the last 2 weeks; We expect some large legal expenses, medical bills, and funeral expenses. We want to do everything we can to get answers for Kaydee and show her how loved she was/always will be. We have never been a family that liked asking for help, but we are between a rock and a hard place, and many of you have reached out asking what you can do to help. First and foremost, we ask that you keep us in your prayers as we navigate these uncharted waters. If you are interested in providing your financial support as well, we will be forever grateful! Venmo is preferred as it goes straight to the family (@Lyndee-Martinez), but we have set up this Go Fund Me if that is your preference. God Bless.
We will post updates for Kaydee’s memorial service very soon as well!!
