Support Kay Bee’s Family
My best friend’s little sister and someone who is like a baby sister to me as well, Kayla Burnette and her little babygirl Addison, have suddenly gained their wings.
Kayla had spent the last few months in and out of the hospital battling hyperemesis gravidarum - which is the medical term for uncontrollable vomiting while pregnant. Due to her being unable to control the sickness, a PICC line was inserted into her arm in order to give her body and the baby the nutrients they both need. Overtime, the PICC line got festered causing an infection to build up in Kayla’s blood. This caused her to go back to the hospital and stay for a few days. On her 25th birthday, Kayla was sent home from the hospital. A week later, to the day, Kayla was feeling unwell still and still unable to hold anything down and went to the hospital yet again. Upon arrival, Kayla was transferred to Norfolk Sentara Hospital where she shortly after went into cardiac arrest. Kayla fought hard and the doctors and nurses who worked on her fought hard and were able to bring her back to us. Unfortunately the damage was too severe and Kayla held on for us for the next two weeks. Sadly, on October 06th, 2020, Kayla Marie and baby Addison were ready to let go and be with their loved ones that have passed before them.
Kayla was so full of life and genuinely one of the sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in my life. She would love your children as if they were her own. She was so excited to be a mother and would have been the best one. Kay Bee lived her life to the fullest and never held anything back. She was the tiniest person in the room but always the bravest. She spoke the loudest. She fought for what she believed in. And she believed in love. She loved hard, so so hard and with every ounce of her being. She loved being a sister and loved being an auntie even more. She was a loving daughter and enjoyed baking and cooking with her momma. Her dog Nova was the light of her life besides her family, boyfriend, and bundle of joy, Addison. If anyone got the pleasure of meeting her, consider yourselves one of the luckiest people on this Earth. She truly was an angel and she will forever be remembered and missed.
I am asking anyone to please consider donating to the Burnette family as they’ve already had a tough year with their mother, Tracy, battling and beating cancer. Kayla has a small life insurance policy in place but the family wants and needs to be able to give her the celebration of life she deserved. As many of you may know, memorials/funerals are NOT cheap. It’s not an easy process to begin with but struggling with finances and unable to give your baby the funeral she deserves is not anything any parent or family member wants to deal with. Kayla deserves a field full of sunflowers, all the angry orchards she could drink, the most beautiful urn and celebration. Please please help out anyway you can - even if it’s donating a few bucks to get some food for the family.
The family has a meal train started and I will add that link as soon as I can. If you can, consider making a homemade meal for the family (roughly 14 immediate family) as they are not thinking of food for themselves at this time.
Kayla Marie, you are the biggest blessing that has ever graced this wonderful planet. Rest easy in heaven with Addison. We love you
