Please help me help KAUSE. I’ve been working with this amazing nonprofit based in LA for over 16 months, both at their warehouse and remotely, providing supply donations and ad hoc support. And now, they need help to keep their doors open.
They rely entirely on donations and sponsors to operate, and recent economic conditions have hit them particularly hard. But this one hits harder, because a lot of other people depend on KAUSE for a lot of things. This is where we can make a huge difference, just like they do.
KAUSE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2017 by Yana Shmuliver, a formerly homeless minority woman who has become a passionate philanthropist, in addition to her full-time day job. She founded KAUSE to provide short-term and long-term assistance, as well as essential support services, to men, women, and children in need throughout the LA area. She still runs it today, with the help of her 100% volunteer-based team.
KAUSE’s 5 most extensive programs, all of which are FREE to the public based on proof of income (it operates many others, but these are currently the longest-running):
- Baby Diapers & Essentials Program sponsored by BABY2BABY (currently serving 1,858 families with children under 3.5 years PER MONTH)
- Computer Literacy Program sponsored by AudienceX
- Men's & Women's Support Groups
- Grocery Giveaway sponsored by Food Finders
- KAUSE Klothing Boutique (FREE shopping experience for business casual clothing to gain employment for individuals coming out of re-entry due to domestic violence, homelessness and/or incarceration)
Other services include DMV assistance, domestic violence counseling and support, and mobile medical clinics. They also mobilize to provide critical supplies during local emergencies, including the January 2025 LA fires, recent ICE raids, and the associated protests.
KAUSE survives solely on donations. They rely on sponsors and the generosity of others to continue operating and providing services to the community; without your help, they would be unable to continue doing the fantastic work they do.
Their bare minimum monthly expenses total $ 1,800 and include rent ($ 1,200/month), utilities, website hosting, and insurance. Their costs amount to under $15,000 per year. The staff take no salary or bonuses. That is a remarkably small amount of money to help so many people throughout the year.
Let’s help them keep the doors open and continue helping people all over LA.
Anything helps - I know you work hard.
Thanks in advance for whatever you can give.
