Support Katy's Renewed Fight Against Cancer

As many of you know, Katy Leben has spent the past two years battling a rare and aggressive lung cancer. Despite many rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and a partial removal of one affected lung, the cancer has returned. Her medical team now believes that her best course of action is to pursue a double lung transplant.

Katy is optimistic about this plan but realistic about the difficulties ahead. To start, she will have to take an extended leave of absence from her position as a fourth-grade teacher at All Saints School of St. John Vianney, work that she cherishes. She will first restart chemo in Cleveland as she is evaluated for the transplant program. If accepted, she will need to fund the cost of the procedure at an out-of-network hospital (the only hospital in the country that can perform the procedure for patients like Katy). She will also need to relocate to Chicago for an extended time before and after the surgery.

Obviously, all of this will cost a substantial amount of money. Any amount raised on this platform will be a tremendous blessing to Katy and a substantial weight off her mind at a time when all of her mental energy should be focused on her health and recovery. All proceeds will be used to pay medical bills and living expenses during her treatment period.
