Life update:

I have finished 5/6 chemotherapy treatments at OU Stephenson. MD Anderson established the treatment plan so we have to go down there every 6 weeks for imaging and a follow-up with the oncologist.

The tumors in my leg are responding to the chemotherapy but the ones in my pelvis have grown and are more active than what they were on the previous scans. The oncologist at MDA is exploring radiation and/or a clinical trial if one becomes available. I have continued to do holistic therapies at home such as rebounding, red light therapy, detox foot baths, detox baths, castor oil packs, and drinking electrolytes daily.

Our immediate needs are prayers that the pelvic tumors would start dying, prayers that the leg tumors would be flushed out by my body, clarity on next steps of treatment, and support for our MDA visits.

Update: Katy has been doing weekly infusions of high dose Vitamin C and Ozone Therapy to decrease inflammation, improve immune function, and tackle the tumors. She’s also on month 2 of the supplement protocol of things that the tumors responded to in the RGCC blood biopsy. She will be headed down to MD Anderson this week for an appointment on Jan 15th to hopefully form a treatment plan that will continue healing her body and support the holistic treatments she’s been doing up to this point. Since it’s a new year, her insurance deductible has started over and has a high deductible that must be met before insurance starts paying for anything. Everything helps to pay that deductible.

Overall she’s feeling good and is hopeful about the future and confident healing is happening!

Earlier this year, Katy had a malignant sarcoma removed from her foot. After several months of healing, she discovered a new spot on her leg. After a doctor visit and new imaging, they discovered the spot on her lower leg is a recurrence of the Myxoinflammatory Fibroblastic Sarcoma that they removed from her foot. It has also spread to her lymph nodes in the back of her knee, groin, and pelvis. This type of sarcoma is extremely rare and difficult to treat, as it’s usually not very responsive to chemo. Furthermore, radiation is difficult due to the size and location of the new tumor. We are currently exploring alternative/supplemental treatment options that are not covered by insurance. Our family and friends have asked us to set up a way for them to contribute to the costs of these treatments. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference in our ability to attack this from all angles.
