Hello! My name is Kat, and I've had the wonderful opportunity to work in a classroom in Arusha, Tanzania, for the past 7 weeks. It’s been such an outstanding experience getting to know a fantastic group of 6th-grade students, along with supporting a dedicated teacher who is also a volunteer from Tanzania. It's so uplifting being around people who have so little yet have the biggest hearts and the brightest smiles! Their positivity and outlook on life is truly like no other!

I have spent my volunteer time at Azimio Primary School , where there are 85 students in my class. Many students have limited resources, with most of their books falling apart, often sharing writing utensils, and many lacking their needed textbooks. Many students also come to school in torn and unfitted uniforms, unable to take off their sweaters off due to holes in their shirts. (These are just some of the small challenges I would like to try and help with before leaving) Despite some of their challenges, they show up every day with big smiles and eagerness to learn, always respectful and grateful to their teachers for teaching them every day.

With a new school year approaching, I would like to try and help the students get some of the resources they need to succeed going into grade 7! Some of these materials are notebooks, pens/pencils, textbooks, and uniforms. Whether you can donate $10 or even $1, or simply share this with your friends, and family, it would mean the world to me! In this short time, I have fallen in love with the way of life in Arusha, the people, and their appreciation for every day of living.
