Support Kat’s hip replacement

Hi friends and family, Thank you for taking the time to visit this GoFundMe page I have set up for Kat. My name is Ashley and Kat is my sister, as many of you know. I have watched Kat and our mom, Leslie, struggle these past few months without complaint, yet I know they need a little help. Kat has suffered with her health more than usual recently and has been in and out of the hospital since September. She has suffered from sepsis, multiple pulmonary emboli, gallbladder removal surgery and critical complications of her Myasthenia Gravis. Thanks to a very thorough doctor, who decided to do a full body scan, we also discovered that both of her hips have unfortunately developed necrosis. Kat has suffered from hip pain for several years now but no doctor had taken the time to assess it until now. To say this was devastating news would be an understatement. After seeing a specialist, we were told this is from the long term effects of her treatments for Myasthenia Gravis. Her right hip has a less advanced case of necrosis and does not need to be addressed at this stage. However, her left hip has suffered advanced and acute necrosis to the point that the ball, or top of the femur, has collapsed in on itself. Her orthopedic surgeon said it is in such an advanced state that it could break at any time. After clearance from and coordination with her other doctors, she will be getting a full left hip replacement. Due to her current fragile state and the upcoming surgery, our mom had to take a leave of absence from work beginning in September in order to care for Kat 24/7. Unfortunately, her workplace does not provide compensation while out on leave for a family member. I am asking for help with Kat’s medical expenses, commuting back and forth to the hospital, food and basic needs that have become difficult for us to sustain. These needs being met would be the best Christmas gift anyone could give. Any donation amount would be so deeply appreciated.
