How does one find the right words to truly describe their story where others will understand completely? So, therefore, I’m going to try my best. Hi , my name is Kat and nothing I have accomplished in life ever came easy. But with that being stated, that has made me strong and the person I am today. Without that strength, I would not have been able to make it along this journey as long as I have thus far.

For the first time in my life, I have truly been the happiest in my adult life with my surroundings, my home, and career. A little over three years ago, cancer came uninvited into my life. I had surgery, thought it was gone, wished it farewell, but a month later it showed up somewhere else uninvited. It decided that it was pretty comfy where it took up home. Without going into lengthy details, cancer decided that it wanted to take home in other places. This has been a battle now for the last couple of years, and this is the worst it has been.

My husband and I bought the cutest little home attached to the most amazing business in Newark with the most amazing community someone could ever ask for. We dug it out of the dark. We dug it out of a hole. We are doing amazing things, bringing in new people, growing new communities, starting food pantries, charities, lending books, libraries—this place is amazing. The people are amazing. They are not just customers; they are our family.

Unfortunately, I had to walk away from a career that I have done for 28 years. I cannot write that without wiping away tears. I had to do this to be able to survive, to take care of myself. Even though I was undergoing treatments, radiation, and chemo and going to work, I got to the point where they became so harsh and so strong that I had to decide to take care of myself. This has put a financial burden on my husband and me, but I honor our company. The next couple of months are gonna be a struggle. We need help with financial costs for the next couple of months. Without financial help, we will face the possibility of losing everything—our home and our company. With the cost of medical bills now, we barely have stock, but with the help of our Game Table Adventures family, we are marching through. I am asking for help not only for me but also to keep a dream alive and a safe place for people and now many young teens.
