My daily life has drastically changed since being diagnosed with cancer. Every week is full of doctor appointments, chemo, working to make ends meet, and sleeping as much as possible because my energy level is extremely limited. Having cancer in my 20s is extremely lonely and isolating because I don’t tend to meet ladies in their early 20s that have cancer.
I’ve been battling stage 3 breast cancer for the last 19 months. This month marks 12 months of chemo, and I still have a couple more months left. My chemo treatment makes me very weak and limits how much I can work. One of the major things that stands out to me about my cancer journey is that my doctors have to be more extreme with my treatment plan. They have had to remind me that they are pushing me harder than they would push somebody in their 60s because they’re trying to assure that I live for another 50+ years. During my double mastectomy at the age of 26, they unfortunately found 1.5 mm more cancer. This caused my doctors to push even harder and have me start another seven month treatment plan including six weeks of radiation. The seven months of treatment is a clinical trial, and it is very rough on my body. The clinical trial is chemo drugs that have not been approved by the FDA yet. By the time I’m done with this Clinical Trial, I will have accomplished 14 months of chemo all together and almost a two year season of cancer.
The funds will go towards medical bills, living expenses, and driving to the hospital. Your generosity would be abundantly appreciated during this terribly difficult season as I am a single woman living alone. What keeps me hopeful and motivated to keep pushing on through this journey is my faith in Jesus Christ. Even though I am weary, struggling with grief, anxiety, and some depression, I know that God has a good plan, and his glory will be revealed. Thank you so much for your support!
