My name is Kati, and I am a full-time working nurse and single mom of 2 incredible boys. At the end of 2025, I received the life-changing diagnosis of breast cancer. As I begin this journey, I am facing a growing number of medical bills and the reality that I will need to take significant time away from work for chemotherapy, surgery, recovery, and radiation therapy.
Unfortunately, as a federal worker, I do not qualify for Oregon's Paid Leave program, and my employer does not offer short-term disability. This means any time off is only covered by incurring personal leave hours each pay period, and those balances leave much to be desired. The financial strain of medical expenses and lost income is daunting, especially as I continue to attempt to work full-time to support and care for my family while kicking cancer's butt.
Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward:
• Medical bills, co-pays, and out-of-pocket treatment costs
• Lost income during chemotherapy, surgery, and recovery
• Supporting me and the boys with living costs and necessities.
Any contribution, share, or kind word means more than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting us during this incredibly difficult chapter. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
