Support Katie’s Rescue of Stray Kittens

Many already know the story as I have been posting updates on my Facebook.

For those that do not know, my name is Katie. I am an avid animal lover and have been since I can remember.

I have been feeding two stray cats since they showed up in April (gray kitty and black kitty).

One day on my way to work, early November, one of them (gray kitty) was laying dead in the road (I live off of a very busy road that has traffic 24/7/365). I went to work upset, and a coworker said, "Well, didn't you say you had a feeling gray kitty was a boy and black kitty was a girl? Well, maybe they had babies and one looks like him." Lo and behold, the world works in mysterious ways. That night, I got a video of three babies with black kitty on my porch eating. I have watched them grow since November 5th.

On December 12th, I thought they were looking big enough to trap to get fixed. I caught one on the 15th and set up an appointment to have it fixed on the 17th. Upon leaving to make that appointment, I went to turn out of my driveway, and there mama laid, dead in the road. I couldn't stomach putting this poor baby through this kind of stress (it cried all night and was scared to death) just to release it back out in the wild to die on the road like the parents. I spoke to a rescue lady at the shelter, and she said that if I tamed it, they would take it to be adopted out. She (Snow) got spayed, FIV/FeLV (negative), and received her rabies and first FVRCP.

The other two babies did not make an appearance, and I thought the cold or a predator might have gotten to them without their mom to protect them.

I kept fresh tuna in the trap and an alarm to wake up every 2 hours to check the trap. I started losing hope until December 20th at 4 am, I trapped the second one, and then on December 21st, the third.

They are all in my heated garage in large dog kennels. I have worked with Snow quite a bit, and she is sweet as pie and will turn out to be a love bug. The other two are in a separate kennel next to Snow's kennel. I have started handling the one, but not the other yet. One of them has a really bad eye infection and may even need an enucleation. I have not taken it to the vet but plan to on Monday when they are open.

All of this costs money, money that I don't really have at this point. If you can spare a couple of dollars, that would be great. If not, well, I get it, honestly, especially with the holidays. Just say a prayer that these babies find loving homes (I have found one a home already; I just want to get it tamed, fixed, and vaccinated first).

12/22/25 update: I took the kitten with the eye infection to the vet. She is on two eye meds (3-4 times daily) and oral antibiotics (twice daily), and the poor baby has a cone on. Her left eye has ruptured, but it has started the healing process, so hopefully we can help it along and she can keep her eye (although she will be blind in that eye). Keep praying and thinking healing thoughts for her. She cannot get vaccinated or spayed until the infection is cleared (worse case scenario the eye doesn't get better and she gets her eye removed along with her spray).

12/23 : I went to Petsmart and got some goodies for them.
Black and white kitty is scheduled to be fixed and vaccinated January 7th!
Snow has been vomiting today, so we skipped her antibiotic dose today and she ate a little bit of food and held it down.
Eye kitty's eye seems to be much more comfortable as she is holding it open a little more. She is by far the most tame and docile of them all.
