Katie has always been the kind of friend who would give you the shirt off her back. I’ve known her since our college days, and she’s been a constant source of kindness, laughter, and support in my life. She’s one of the reasons my husband and I are together today, and she’s always been there for me and so many others, never hesitating to put others before herself. Katie’s heart is huge, and she has a gift for making everyone feel welcome—she truly doesn’t know a stranger.
Recently, Katie’s world was turned upside down. Her mother passed away unexpectedly, and while she was still grieving, Katie suffered a terrible fall that shattered her tibia and ankle. She’s endured five surgeries, battled two infections, spent 45 days in the hospital, and had two rehab stays. Right now, she can’t put any weight on her leg and needs more time in rehab, but her insurance has run out. With her mom gone and no one at home to help, Katie can’t live alone and needs 24/7 care just to manage the basics. She’s unable to work and is exhausted from fighting through all of this on her own.
I’m reaching out because Katie deserves better than this. She’s fun-loving, thoughtful, and truly an amazing human being. I know so many people have been touched by her generosity and spirit. If you’re able, please help support Katie so she can stay in rehab and get the care she needs to recover. Your kindness will make a world of difference for someone who has always given so much to others.
