On Wednesday, May 20th, Katie suffered a mental health crisis that ultimately resulted in her being placed in Tarrant County Jail and being charged with a felony. It was a mental health emergency that was not addressed correctly, and now we are in an extremely difficult situation.

We have been advocating for Katie to get into full-time, around-the-clock care at a place where she's happy, medically safe, and stable for years to no avail, and we need help. Katie is currently homeless and has been for at least 18 months to my knowledge and has unfortunately regressed immensely.

I have this week to figure out where Katie can go long-term for mental, physical, and behavioral rehabilitation until we can get a better hold on this situation and adjust our lives to accommodate her the best we can while she begins to heal. I got my sister out of jail, and she is currently in the psychiatric emergency part of JPS until Tuesday morning.

There's going to be an overwhelming amount of costs that come with both the court process and finding her long-term living that she and I just don't have. If anyone is able to donate anything they can, we appreciate it. Everything is going to a bank account specific for Katie to ensure her both safety and financial security while we sort out the very long road ahead.
