Support Katie's Medical Journey to Recovery

Hi! I’m Paige and I am hoping to help my sister out by starting this GoFundMe. Katie has been dealing with multiple medical issues over the last few months. It all started with a TIA (mini stroke) back in March which has led to a multitude of other issues. She was most recently diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures with Impaired Consciousness. Because of all of these “episodes” she has daily, she is unable to drive or work which led to her losing her job as a nurse, which in turn led to losing her health insurance when she needs it most. She has applied for Medicaid but has not been approved yet. She has several appointments coming up in the next few weeks with her neurologist and cardiologist and will have to pay cash for these appointments and tests. She is also having to pay cash for the many prescriptions that she is taking to help manage her symptoms. We are getting soooo close to finally having some answers but the stress of medical bills piling up is definitely not helping her well being or recovery. She also had a few overnight hospital stays over the last few months (including a heart ablation) that she will need to pay for as well.

As her big sister, it’s not easy watching her go through this and lose her independence in such a short time but I have to say she is handling with so much grace! I know it’s not easy for her adjusting to her new disability but her determination to get better is inspirational.
