Hello, I have the privilege of being Katie's Aunt! Over the past seven months, I have witnessed the journey that she and her parents have been on as she battled with her health.

In November 2024 it was discovered that Katie had a Pulmonary Embolism (multiple blood clots in her lungs). After several months of tests, treatment and a stay at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital, Katie’s medical team has decided it is best for her to have surgery to remove the blood clots this June.

Katie will be going to UC San Diego Health to have a Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE) surgery. This surgery will require Katie to stay in San Diego for 3-5 weeks, followed by months of rehab and recovery at home.
