This is Susan G. Mitchell, Katie's older sister.
This is extremely difficult, but we can no longer do this by ourselves. We need your help!!!
I’m setting up a medical fundraiser for my sister, Katie Gasemy. Looking for any and all help, please.
Katie became ill in April 2020 from Covid. She has developed Long Covid / Long Haulers as a result, a very long list of autoimmune disorders including ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), Dysautonomia, MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) , major GI issues, Small AND Large Fiber Neuropathy, brain fog, rashes/bruising, her gait is significantly off, and most recently, MS (Multiple Sclerosis).
Katie has exhausted her savings, retirement funds, and family for financial support over the past (almost) 5 years and still can’t cover all her treatments. (Medicare only covers a fraction of the bills she has incurred, and the bills continue to grow.)
She was terminated from her job, can’t work, and is in chronic pain because of her illness.
Since Katie's illness began in 2020, I’ve continued to split my time between Tennessee and Maryland for my mother’s care, family, and caring for Katie. Travel is difficult and long. My time with Katie is spent caring for her and mom, medical appointments/treatments, cleaning her house because she doesn’t have the strength to, preparation of food for the freezer (to help on the bad days), and caring for her fur baby, Maddy.
Between this GoFundMe page and another fundraiser (in which I'll be making my chunky knit blankets for a set donation), I have been told many times to sell them as a business, but clearly, I don’t have the time with all that is on my plate. So for now, I'll focus on making my chunky blankets for fundraising only.
Therefore, ALL & ANY ideas, help, &/or donations and sharing will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for your support - Susan
