Katie Kieu Nguyen is more than just a teacher—she is a light in the lives of so many. She has spent her life caring for others, always putting people before herself. As a teacher, Katie has touched countless young hearts. She is not only jovial and full of life, but also disciplined and incredibly organized—creating a nurturing space where children feel valued and encouraged. She is the kind of teacher who leaves a lasting imprint on every child she meets.

Her Current Fight: On March 19, 2026, Katie was hospitalized with severe infections that quickly became life-threatening and caused serious damage to her lungs. She is currently in the ICU on an ECMO machine, a life-saving support system that is helping her body while her lungs heal. She has undergone multiple critical procedures, including intubation and a tracheostomy to assist her breathing. At this time, Katie remains sedated as her body works to recover. The road ahead will be long and uncertain, requiring extended ICU care, ongoing treatments, and, when she is ready, intensive rehabilitation to regain her strength.

The emotional and financial toll of this journey is overwhelming. Medical care, long-term treatment, and rehabilitation will require significant support.
