As many of you know, my sister Katie Bidwell (Rivero) has lived with chronic neurological issues for the past ten years. Despite not knowing the cause for much of that time, she faced each day with courage—often smiling through the pain and limitations in her body.
On February 15th, Katie experienced a severe relapse that left her unable to walk or move her arms, and in intense pain. Since then, she’s been in a skilled nursing facility, working tirelessly to retrain her body. Just a few weeks ago, we finally got answers: Katie was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) a rare neurological disease that has likely been the root of her struggles for the last decade.
Katie is still fighting, but her life has changed dramatically. She has no movement on the left side of her body, and her right side remains extremely weak. She hasn’t been able to work, and her husband, Tyler, is juggling two jobs to try and keep everything afloat—but the mounting medical bills and cost of adaptive equipment are overwhelming. On top of the financial strain, the time lost with their one-year-old daughter, Abigail, and the mental toll of this physical battle have made things even more difficult for their young family.
We’re raising money to support Katie, Tyler, and little Abigail as they navigate this incredibly challenging chapter. Katie is one of the strongest, kindest, and most generous people I know—always the first to show up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
If you’re unable to help financially, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who might be able to.
Thank you so much for your love and support for Katie.
