Hi, my name is Katie, and I’m a newly single mom to three little boys, all under six years old.
While I was temporarily in California with my children, my husband arranged for someone to “watch our dog” at our Wisconsin home without my knowledge or consent. In the span of just one week, that decision resulted in our home being completely ransacked. Multiple people were allowed inside, the house was turned into a drug-trafficking site, and nearly everything of value was sold or destroyed. Our TVs are gone, our safe was broken into, security cameras were destroyed, and my children’s bedroom was left trashed. Even my clothes and shoes were taken.
Police were eventually involved, including drones and a K-9 unit, but because we did not have renters insurance, there is no way to file a claim for the loss. I have since spoken with our landlord and been transparent about the situation. They were understanding, especially given the police activity, but the reality is that I am returning home with my children without their father and with very little left inside the house.
I’m raising funds to help rebuild a safe, functional home for my boys and myself. Donations will go directly toward replacing essential items such as:
Beds, mattresses, dressers, and basic furniture for the kids
TVs and internet equipment (modem, router, smart home basics)
Clothing and shoes for myself
Kitchen appliances and household necessities
Blankets, pillows, curtains, blinds, and cleaning supplies
Repairs and replacements needed to make the house livable again
This isn’t about luxury or starting over perfectly. It’s about stability, safety, and giving my kids a familiar place to land as we move forward into a new chapter.
I’ve committed to rebuilding our home and our routine brick by brick, but I won’t pretend that it won’t be financially challenging to do it alone. Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser, means more than I can say.
Thank you for helping us turn a hard situation into a fresh start.
