In the afternoon hours of 12/30, my sister Katie experienced every person’s worst nightmare. A sudden house fire that destroyed her home and everything she owned.

Katie escaped with her life, and we are incredibly grateful that her dog, Beau, also made it out safely. In the chaos and fear of the moment, Katie ran out of the house with nothing- not even a pair of shoes on her feet. Within minutes, her home and all of her belongings were gone.

Because Katie did not have renters insurance, she is now facing the overwhelming reality of having to start completely over from scratch. Clothing, furniture, personal items, household essentials — all lost. The emotional toll is heavy, and the financial burden is significant.

We are sharing this not only to ask for help, but also as an important reminder to others: renters insurance matters. No one ever expects something like this to happen until it does.

Right now, our focus is helping Katie get back on her feet. Replacing basic necessities, securing stable housing, and giving her some peace of mind as she begins to rebuild her life after this devastating loss.
