Support Katie & 2 children during Pandemic

I’ve decided to set a go-fund me for one of my closest friends, Katie. She is a single mum
lost her job due to the COVID-19 pandemic and had to use all savings to survive with her 2
kids up until recently finding a new job. She has recently been given and allocated social
housing which took years to bid for.
However, because of the loss of Katie’s previous job and having finished her savings due to
the current crisis, it has left her in a financial position where she’s unable to afford to make
the complete move to the new property that has been allocated to her.
This is her first significant move in years and a chance to move to a bigger property with a
garden for the kids. And, it would be a fresh start away from the flat that she currently lives in
where she suffered much abuse and domestic violence. This is a perfect chance for her to
put all that behind. After experiencing such intense abuse, having this opportunity to move to
a bigger property with support would be a dream come true in the middle of this pandemic. It
has been 2 years since she finally broke free from the toxic abuse she was in from the
previous relationship, and whilst the impact and consequences of that have been
far-reaching, I am thankful that she is in a better place with the kids.
With that being said, it is time for her to move and she needs extra support financially to
make the move possible and the new place homely and habitable, and safe enough for the
kids and Katie to move in successfully. She currently has to pay rent on both properties and
current requires a months notice to leave the flat where she currently resides. As a result,
she needs a month upfront payment of £600 for the new property whilst paying the current
£480 where she lives. Furthermore, the quotes for the removals van stands at £500.
The new property is in disrepair and currently uninhabitable, and needs major refurbishment
with decorations - General Painting, flooring, childrens beds, cooker, fridge, General
furnishings etc.
The whole situation has deeply affected my friend’s mental health and she’s in a position
where raising 2 kids is becoming particularly more challenging due to the financial pressure
from the backdrop of the corona pandemic. Therefore, we are seeking some extra help to
complete their transition to the new property and to make it habitable for Katie and her kids.
It will at least be the first time since coming out of a domestic violence situation to having
some real peace with her kids. Every little you can contribute will be deeply appreciated and
we are super grateful.
