Two nights ago, on September 11th, I received the scariest call of my life. Due to shock, all my mom managed to mumble was "Big car accident... CVS." Immediately, my brother, cousin, and I fled to the scene where my mom, Katia Habchy, and my little sister, Christelle Habchy (11), had gotten into a major car accident. The crowd of police officers, firefighters, and ambulance sent us into panic, not knowing their health status. They were rushed to South Shore Hospital, and we are extremely grateful that their injuries were not life-threatening.
At around 8:00 pm earlier that night, my mom and sister were leaving CVS. As they reversed out of the parking space, the gas pedal got stuck, sending them over the curb, across Southern Artery, and into Old Colony Liquors at a high speed. The car crashed into the building backward, thankfully avoiding anyone inside. We are so thankful the usually busy street was empty, and that nobody else was injured.
Besides going to work, my mom drives my two siblings to and from school each day, as well as to after-school activities. She worries that this accident will obstruct their daily lives until the situation is resolved, as the car is totaled. My mom sees this as a miracle because nobody was hurt, thanking God, the police, the firefighters, and the first responders who helped.
