Support Kathy's Life-Saving Surgery

Kathy has always been the life of the party. She's a loving wife, supportive mom, the best grandma, and friend to all. She's a God-fearing, community-building, never-ending source of love and light.

Over the last two years, Kathy has found herself in the fight for her life after being diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma Buccal Mucosa, a rare and difficult to treat form of cancer, in her mouth that has impacted her ability to work, speak, eat, and drink.

She has tried many different courses of treatment, including surgery (the cancer grew back), holistic approaches (the cancer continues to grow), and now finds herself on the short list for a life-saving free flap surgery where the cancer will be removed and her jawbone will be reconstructed. They will cut in the middle of her lip and remove teeth on the left side, cut bone from her left leg and scapula and reconstruct the skin in her mouth. She will have a trach and feeding tube. The surgery outcome will determine her need for more inpatient care.

Her resilience and optimism have been admirable throughout the journey. Kathy remains an inspiration to her family, friends, and community.
