Hello! My name is Kirsten and I am trying to raise money for my mom, Kathy (Auld) Boer.

Kathy has been struggling with heart disease for numerous years and it has worsened in the last year resulting in congested heart failure. She has been unable to work since September 2023 due to the worsening of her condition. Additionally, over the last 10 months Kathy has been working through the application process for disability and recently found out she was denied and will have to continue to appeal and fight for disability.

3 weeks ago Kathy went in for a routine visit but as a result of not feeling well for several weeks prior (constant fatigue, cough, congestion) she was admitted to the hospital and the cardiologists deemed it necessary for Kathy to get a LVAD (left ventricular assist device) to help her heart pump blood to the rest of her body. On August 16th, Kathy has the LVAD surgery which was successful but will require extensive rehabilitation over the next six months.

In addition to the LVAD surgery, Kathy is hopeful to be placed on the heart transplant list in the upcoming months. When a heart is available to Kathy, the surgery, rehabilitation and recovery will again be extensive in both time and medical costs.

I am hoping to raise funds for Kathy's medical costs that have not only built up over the last few months of her not being able to work but also to go towards medical costs as a result of the LVAD surgery and required post operative care.
