On behalf of the Demianovich family, we’re reaching out with hope for our mom, Kathy Demianovich—the heart of our family and a beloved member of the Forest City and Union Dale, PA communities. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2024, our mom is now facing the fight of her life. We’re asking for your prayers to lift her spirit, and if you’re able, your donations can help ease the financial burden of the treatments ahead, allowing her and our dad to focus on what truly matters: her healing.

Kathy, the second oldest of nine children born to Pearl and John Murphy of Union Dale, grew up in a big Irish Catholic family and took on the role of caregiver at a young age. She made sure her siblings were fed, cared for, and loved, often stepping up during difficult times. That same selflessness still defines her today—she continues to put everyone else before herself.

For over 43 years, she worked side by side with our dad, Steve, on our family farm, raising four children and countless cattle. Her warm smile made her a favorite while waitressing at The Candlelight Inn and The Speakeasy, treating every customer like family. Just months before her diagnosis, she began working in the cafeteria at Forest City Regional School—a job she loved and one that thankfully provided essential health insurance.

But even with insurance, pancreatic cancer is aggressive, and the cost of treatment is overwhelming. Kathy will soon be seeking consultation for a specialized procedure known as the NanoKnife, a potentially life-extending treatment for pancreatic cancer not widely offered. The out-of-pocket cost for this procedure and its associated medical expenses can range from $10,000 to $16,000, depending on what the surgeon determines she needs. Every dollar raised will go directly toward this consultation, the NanoKnife treatment itself, and the travel and medical costs surrounding it.

With a five-year survival rate of just 13%, every moment—and every resource—counts.

We are humbly asking for help so she can focus solely on healing. She has spent her entire life caring for others: her siblings, her parents, her children and grandchildren, her neighbors, and countless members of the community. She has always made sure everyone had a warm meal, a helping hand, and a feeling of being seen.
