On August 7th, Kathryn was diagnosed with a low grade osteosarcoma surrounding her left tibia, fibula and knee.
In Iowa City on August 29th she underwent a total knee replacement to ensure the entirety of the mass was removed.
September 1st a major complication arose, no blood flow to her left foot. She immediately went into an emergency surgery, that lasted over 12 hours, involving blood clot removal, an artery bypass and fasciotomy.
On September 17th, she was released from the hospital.
September 22nd she found out that within the tumor removed there were a few small spots of high grade cancer, which now requires chemotherapy which will begin in late October as well as a left leg above the knee amputation which will take place September 26th.
The money raised through this Go Fund Me will be used toward all of her medical expenses.
