Kathryn was born early at 26 weeks weighing 1 lb 1 oz due to severe iugr and chord brood reversal due to severe pre-eclampsia. She has been in the NICU all her life, 5 months now, and was just transferred 5 hours away to Cooks due to her condition to be evaluated for a trache or other options. Still no discharge date or much improvement, so it’s undetermined how long the stay will be.
Because of the situation, we are on one income and struggling with expenses and now travel, stay, gas, and food expenses for our family on top of our regular bills and expenses.
Update- Kathyn is requiring a tracheostomy and gbutton placed and how ever long after to recover and me to train on her cares and will require home health care when returning home.
Update-
Just to update. Kathryn now has an infection they believe it’s in her trachea and possible pneumonia but waiting on the cultures to come back . She is also having stomache issues again they are not sure if like when she had nec or just the change of formula. so all weaning, steroids and or surgery has been put on hold for now.
Update- kathryn is now 9 months old and has a tracheostomy and gbutton and still requiring a vent. We are working toward discharge finally! Home inspection is coming up and a lot of requirements have to be met such as shelving, storage, fire safety updates. We are trying to get this done to the best of ability so she can come home but is a very slow process due to income restrictions.
