My name is Kathryn Blommel. I will graduate in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, along with minors in Museum and Curatorial Studies and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Minnesota. I primarily use charcoal and graphite to create surreal imagery centered around the female form.

I am excited to share that I have been accepted into the Summer Undergraduate Residency Program at the New York Academy of Art, which was founded in 1982 by artists, scholars, and patrons—including Andy Warhol—to promote the training of figurative and representational art.

In addition to my acceptance, I am honored to have received the Academy Merit Scholarship, awarded to only three applicants who demonstrate exceptional merit. While this scholarship covers tuition and fees, it does not include housing, airfare, art supplies, or food expenses. These generous donations will be used to help cover these additional expenses.
Attending this prestigious institution in New York would greatly enhance my artistic practice and career. The residency offers an incredible opportunity to learn from accomplished faculty members, visiting artists, and the galleries and museums in the city.
