Hey everyone!! I have created this GoFundMe on behalf of my friend Kathryn Kummer. I have known Kathryn since we were in the second grade and ever since we were kids, I have always thought of her as one of the most intelligent humans I know!!

On April 3rd, Kathryn was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), after discovering a lump in her left breast. TNBC is an aggressive breast cancer that is unaffected by hormones or the HER2 gene. Because of this particular cancer diagnosis, there was no time to waste when it came to treatment. Kathryn was thrown right into multiple appointments a day, emotionally draining information, and painful blood draws.

Her current treatment includes 8 rounds of chemo, which she is undergoing, plus a surgery in September where she will undergo a double mastectomy, unsure whether or not she will need radiation. During this time, she is also cold capping, which is a preventative treatment for hair loss during her chemotherapy, which is not covered by insurance. She is doing this extra step to preserve her appearance for her son and keep things relatively normal for him.

Kathryn and Doug have a beautiful son, Teddy, who is five. Their family is beautiful, and Kathryn is the bravest person! She has gone through all of this since April, while trying to continue tutoring, but due to the effects of chemo, she has not been able to work as much.
