My name is Kathleen Brown and I'm trying to raise funds for much needed medical and dental treatment.

As most of you know, I was rear-ended and severely injured by drunk driver 4 years ago. It crushed my nervous system that addresses both legs below my knees to my toes and resulted in a condition called complex region pain syndrome. This is considered the most painful condition known to Medical Science and has no formulated medication, no treatment and no cure. I've had five surgeries to try and relieve the pain and unfortunately nothing has worked. During one of these surgeries a spinal stimulator was implanted at the base of my spine with hopes to relieve the pain, which it didn't. The doctors are not sure if the device is defective or if it just wasn't the right treatment, but it needs to be removed and my nervous system repaired or restored. This will be followed up by a new treatment called ketamine infusions which is similar in practice to dialysis. There will be six to eight four hour infusion treatments done over a period of 6 weeks. The combined treatments are supposed to provide 6 months to a year of pain relief. Unfortunately because the treatment is so new, they have not been approved by the FDA yet and are not covered by insurance and payment for each treatment is due when I walk in the door estimated at about $500 each. Finally because of the medication I've been on, it's made my teeth brittle and I've lost quite a few of them which makes it very difficult to eat and chew. There are several options for this, one more drastic than the other and vary in cost.

Unfortunately all of this needs to be done one right after the other and I'm looking at probably $10,000 to $12,000 out of my pocket, much of it due at time of treatment. I knew that the surgery was coming up and I started saving for it last winter but when they called me 10 days ago to tell me how much it was going to cost I almost fainted. I don't know how I'm going to pull this off. I've tried to get credit but because I'm overextended from my previous procedures I don't qualify. I'm limited in what I can do but I did sign up to do deliveries for Uber Eats after my day job and on weekends. This will bring in a little bit of money but every little bit helps. I'm trying to be self sufficient but I am totally overwhelmed. I've never faced anything like this before.

I know I have a lot of people out there that love me and if any of you would like to help me to pay for these treatments Anything at all would be so appreciated.

Unfortunately it needs to be done soon because they're afraid that the stimulator might be damaging my nervous system and could ultimately cause permanent damage that could cripple me. I'm not on any pain medication so the infusions are really important to try and relieve that. I need to get treatment done to my teeth so that way I can chew and eat without causing more damage to the teeth i have left. So Surgery first, infusions second and dental is last.
