My dear friend, Kathleen Pazanin, was diagnosed with colon cancer. She was in the hospital for 17 days and they removed the cancer mass and a portion of her colon. Chemo will be starting in the very near future. It will be at least a 3 month recovery time just from the surgery, let alone the chemo.

Many of you know her to be a familiar face in the animal rescue world, which is where I met this fabulous friend of mine. For the past 24 years, she has worked at Humane Society Calumet Area, Munster Animal Hospital, volunteered and done countless fundraisers for several rescue groups and is currently employed at South Suburban Humane Society for the last 9 years. Anyone in animal rescue knows that we are all one huge team with the same mission. Kathleen is a member of that team and she needs our help right now.

Kathleen has always been that go-to person for whatever anyone, or any animal, may need. If you had a problem, question or need, you could go ask Kathleen, she would figure it out. She is a selfless, giving and compassionate person. Anyone that knows her already knows that.

This is just the beginning of her journey to months of recovery. I cannot even guess as to the amount of bills that are mounting, with a long road ahead. Unfortunately, two days prior to her diagnosis, her husband, Glenn, lost his job. They do not need to worry about money right now. So hopefully this fundraiser can give them a little piece of mind, for now. These donations will be put towards medical bills and living expenses.
