Support Katherine's Dance Journey in Greece

Hi doves,

I'm reaching out to share an exciting opportunity on my journey as a movement artist. For years, I've dedicated myself to the art of dance and embodied research. If I were to pick one word to describe my study and development as a dance artist, contact improvisation teacher, and CI jam facilitator, it would be devotional. I have been blessed to study and train with as many teachers as I can across North America. Now, I have the chance to deepen my practice through SYNASKi, a year-long international dance course based in central Athens, Greece.

This program is an immersive experience where I'll delve into experiential anatomy, organic learning pedagogies, and performing arts practices alongside teachers from Greece and Europe. From certified practices like Alexander technique and contact improvisation in the morning to workshops exploring body-mind connections and choreographic practices in the afternoon, this program will deepen my understanding and enrich my research and dancing– and I will be able to return home to Austin to share the fruits with you all!

This opportunity means more to me than personal artistic growth. It's also a chance to bring back invaluable insights and techniques to enrich the dance community I cherish and have dedicated myself to here in Austin. Your support will not only help fund my participation but will also empower me to continue pouring into our local CI community with renewed energy and knowledge.

I'm reaching out to ask for your help in raising $2,222 to support my journey to Athens. The program and flights are paid for, but I am now working to secure enough money over the next two months to pay my rent for my nine month stay, as I will be there on a student visa rather than a work visa.

It feels vulnerable to ask for support in this way, but I’m leaning in and opening to receiving with trust and gratitude. I have poured a lot of energy and knowledge into the contact improvisation community here and it would feel really supportive to receive- even $5 helps me!
