On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene caused significant damage to Black Mountain, North Carolina and the surrounding communities. Katherine and Gerry's basement flooded, forcing them to throw out several pieces of furniture, including three beds, a sofa, and two doors. They will need to remediate for mold removal, refinish their floors, put up new doors, molding, and thresh-holds. They will need to repair electrical work, construct new dry wall, and paint walls and furniture.
In addition, their large white oak tree fell in their yard, breaking their fence and destroying many of Katherine's beautiful plants. The giant root ball is still in their yard, and they will need a professional to remove it.
Some rain also came in through their roof, and they may need some roof repair.
Unfortunately, Katherine and Gerry's application to their insurance company for the mold remediation and roof work was denied. FEMA has also only allocated them a nominal amount, meaning that they will need to bear much of the financial load for these costs.
Please consider helping Katherine and Gerry with a donation. Every little bit will help them as they seek to repair their beautiful home.
This donation has been started by Brandon and Dulce Schneeberger, two close friends of the Malsbary's. The money donated will be used for the repair of the Malsbary's home.
