Katey's medical journey began in 2019 when she underwent several knee surgeries. The initial surgery took place in October 2019, which left her grappling with complications such as femoral neuropathy. The second surgery occurred less than two months later, followed by a third operation out-of-state in September 2020.
In December 2021, Katey began experiencing cardiac and autoimmune complications post-COVID. She sought medical attention from numerous specialists 3+ hours away where she finally got diagnosed with Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Along with chronic pain and fatigue.
Living with chronic illness plus inflation presents significant challenges in managing the cost of supplements, specific dietary needs, and weekly medical maintenance care required to maintain her health and keeping up with the cost of rent, utilities, and groceries.
Chronic pain and flare-ups have further complicated the situation, making it increasingly difficult for her to manage daily life.
Despite the significant financial and physical toll her situation has taken on her, she continues to do her best and enjoy everyday life. She is still trying to find answers to some undiagnosed medical issues along with very expensive medical care that some doctors want to provide.
We are raising funds to help her offset some of the costs of searching for answers and helping Katey resume a healthy and independent life.
