Kate is fighting for her life—and these next steps are her last chance.

As many of you know, Kate was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer in January 2024. After undergoing treatment in California, navigating a military move to Alabama, and continuing care at the University of Alabama–Birmingham, she received the incredible news of remission in March 2025.

Sadly, in August 2025, the cancer returned. Kate immediately began a new chemotherapy protocol at UAB, but a PET scan in December revealed that the cancer has spread rapidly, now reaching into the area near her clavicle and shoulder.

Up until now, Kate’s insurance has thankfully covered her treatments. But today, we are facing what feels like the hardest chapter yet. The options her medical team has presented are few—and they are truly last-ditch efforts. These include clinical trials, specialists in advanced cancer treatment, and what many would consider “unconventional” next-line therapies. Every one of these paths is out of network, out of state, and entirely out of pocket.

This comes on top of the already overwhelming reality of balancing treatment, work, and home life with her husband, Andy, while caring for their three young children—Josephine (10), Elias (7), and Willa (3). As these final options are explored, the financial, emotional, and physical strain on Kate and her family will be profound.
