My dear sister is in a tough spot with her dog, Ruby. Theirs is a special bond- anyone who has seen them knows it. Ruby was recently diagnosed with a large tumor in her lungs. After several opinions and exams, her vets are encouraging her to move forward with surgery. Despite her age, they believe the procedure will extend her life, both quality and length.
My sister is not one to ask for help (those that know her, know that too), but finances are a barrier. Initially she told me she didn’t feel comfortable asking for community help in the midst of the state of the world. Her therapist told her to get over it and that she shouldn’t let her discomfort in asking for help stand in the way of people wanting to help and ultimately, having more time with Ruby. She reluctantly agreed, and so I offered to help.
