On March 5th, Kaylee’s 22-year-old daughter, Katee, suffered a devastating fall that dislocated her left foot from the ankle and caused three serious fractures. Katee also lives with a mixed connective tissue disorder, which has made this injury and recovery even more difficult. Because Katee did not have medical insurance, she was initially sent home without surgery and was left to endure more than a week of severe pain before the family could find a surgeon willing to help. Katee has now had surgery, but doctors expect that it may take a year or more of healing and physical therapy before she can walk normally again. During this time, she will be unable to work and will be facing mounting medical and everyday expenses.
Katee is the oldest of five siblings and is known for being a protector, a source of love, and someone who naturally shows up for the people around her. She has a whimsical spirit and a creative heart, and as a flow artist she brings joy to others through movement and expression. She also works hard as a shift lead at Panda Express, where she is known for her dedication, kindness, and positive attitude. Losing her mobility and independence so suddenly has been heartbreaking, but Katee is strong and determined to heal.
This fundraiser will help cover Katee’s medical care, wound care, follow-up appointments, medications, physical therapy and rehabilitation, adaptive equipment for her home, and basic living expenses while she is out of work. Any donation, share, or kind word will make a meaningful difference and help ease the financial pressure on Katee and her family during this long recovery. Thank you for supporting Katee and helping her focus on healing.
