I’m writing this as a friend who loves Kate and wants to be honest about how serious things have become. Kate is facing a rapidly worsening medical situation. She is living with over 15 diagnosed chronic illnesses and is being treated by specialists at Duke University Hospital. Despite ongoing care, her health has declined to the point that she is mostly homebound and unable to work.

The financial impact has been overwhelming. Between frequent hospital visits, specialist appointments, testing, medications, and the cost of reinstating and keeping health insurance, the bills have piled up quickly. On top of that, normal monthly expenses don’t stop, and it’s become more than Kate and her family can manage on their own.

Kate has shown so much strength through all of this, but she shouldn’t have to carry this alone. Things have reached a point where she truly needs help to stay afloat and continue getting the care she desperately needs.
