Support Kate & Joe Zecchin owners of Sugar Toof

Hi, my name is Sylvia and I'm fundraising for Kate & Joe Zecchin the owners of Sugar Toof.

The Sugar Toof bakery opened in 2021 in Hercules, offering sweets, zlogs, and pasta dishes reflecting Kate and Zoe Zecchin’s Filipino and Italian Heritage.

On August 4th there was a fire in their building, and although it didn’t affect their business, the building has been shut down until the building owner addresses a long list of corrections the County is requiring.

In the meantime, Kate and Joe have a two-month-old baby and bills to pay. With both parents working in the bakery, there is no other source of income and they need help to pay their bills until the County allows them to re-open.

Both Kate and Joe are from the Bay Area and attended Contra Costa College Culinary Management School together. They have worked at many restaurants in the area. Joe was born and raised in Hercules.

Their business began with the sweets they baked as Halloween ‘treats’ in 2018 and took off from there. They have put their heart and souls into creating and running this wonderful bakery.

Please help Kate and Joe as they try to find ways to piece together a living until their building can reopen, and they can get back to life as usual. We hope to raise $5,000 to help them with bills for August and September. Every little bit helps so please give what you can afford.

We are lucky to live in a strong, tight-knit community, and Joe and Kate would be the first ones to help others in need. The Sugar Toof bakery is in the same spot that Kate’s parents’ bakery, The Sunflower Bakery had been since 1981. People came from all over just for Sunflower’s Caramel Cake.

Over the years this family has been a beloved part of the community and has helped others in countless ways. Let’s help this young couple and their new baby get through a rough patch, so they can focus on how to keep their business alive until their building can reopen.
