Support Kate and Parker's Healing Journey
Spende geschützt
Have you ever felt like the universe decided to be kind and send you a gift in the form of a person? Someone that you wish everyone had at least one of in their life?
For me, the answer is yes - and that person is Kate.
Kate is the kind of human whose heart stretches far beyond her own circumstances. She is selfless, kind, endlessly giving, and fiercely loyal even when life hasn’t been fair to her. Even when she’s had every reason to shut down, she’s remained open. She’s fought for others. She’s shown up. And somewhere along the way, after all the loss, trauma, and chronic illness and pain, the universe sent her a gift of its own: a horse named Parker.
Kate didn’t go looking for Parker. She stumbled across his ad by accident. And seeing that he was listed for a price seemingly far below his worth, she flew out to meet him. From the first moment, she knew: he wasn’t just a fancy horse who'd developed "behavioral problems". He was a sweet yet broken soul asking for help - help which she promised that day to provide.
Parker had been neglected and overworked. His medical issues remained undisclosed. His body was hurting, and so was his spirit. But Kate saw herself in him. And just like that, she sold her car to buy him and started the journey of pouring everything she had into giving this horse the second chance he deserved.
And he returned the favor.
Parker gave Kate something no doctor, job, or therapist ever could: relief. Purpose. Joy. With him, she found some solace away from the pain and mental burden caused by Lupus, psoriatic arthritis, epilepsy, and history of a severe traumatic brain injury. In other words, her body is constantly at war with itself and she finds relief from the physical pain in mere hours, not days, or weeks - hours. She currently needs two surgeries, but delayed both to help her mother through hip replacement surgery and to move Parker out-of-state to safety.
She is somehow a superwoman when everything in life tells her she can't be. With all that, she finds the will to show unconditional love to her friends, family, and Parker. And in her, Parker found comfort for the first time.
They’ve built something beautiful together - not just a bond, but a whole community. Parker is now the gentle giant who comforts nervous riders. He’s a goofball who loves kids. He makes strangers smile, reminds people to slow down, and gives Kate a reason to believe she still has more life left to live.
But now due to unsafe conditions at the barn and worsening health, Kate and Parker are being forced to relocate urgently. Parker needs ongoing care: specialized feed, supplements, medication for his Cushing’s disease, and vet treatment. And Kate simply can’t carry the weight of this alone.
This GoFundMe will help with:
- Emergency relocation fees for Kate and Parker to a safer environment
- Basic living support for Kate during this transition
- Veterinary care, board, and medicine for Parker
Kate has spent her entire life taking care of others, advocating for those who have been mistreated, and loving those most in need. She never asks for anything. But right now, she truly needs help. Not just for her, but for Parker - the horse who showed her that it’s okay to trust again, to hope again, and to keep going even when the pain doesn’t stop.
If you’ve ever known someone who inspires you by simply existing, someone who lifts others even when they’re hurting, then you know someone like Kate. And if you believe in second chances, in showing up for the people (and animals) who give their all with so little in return, then I hope you’ll consider donating.
The world is better with Kate in it. And Parker is better with Kate by his side.
Let's be a part of their village.
