Hello! For those who don't know me, my name is Lisa Merluzzi. I've set up this gofundme to ask for help to support my cousin, Kassie Reid, during this very difficult time. In 2008 when Kassie was just 21 years old she was diagnosed with a very rare form of colorectal cancer called FAP ( Familial Adenomatous Polyposis). This is a genetically passed cancer which she unfortunately inherited from her father, my uncle, Dennis Reid, who passed away from this disease in 2007. At this time she had her very first surgery which was to have her colon removed. Since then she has had 10 surgeries, 3 of them since February of this year, all of which has left her with a very small portion of her intestines. This cancer has also left her with severe anemia which has led to numerous iron infusions. She has also had over 10 blood transfusions in just the last 2 years due to internal bleeding. Kassie has had to endure living with an ostomy bag on 3 different occasions. She doesn't have enough of her intestines left for her digestive tract to function properly. Her next surgery will require her to have a permanent ostomy bag. Because of her health and recent surgeries she lost her job in February. She currently does not have health insurance and just spent 4 days in the hospital for an obstruction in her small bowel. Luckily she avoided surgery at this time. We are asking for help for medical bills, lost wages and transportation. The hospital she has to go to for her care is a 2 hour drive away from her home. Her partner, Corey Cooper, is currently not working due to having to care of her. Any little bit will help tremendously and be much appreciated. Please keep Kassie in your thoughts!
