My best friend, Kassidy, a loving mother and one of the most kind-hearted, selfless people you will ever meet, survived something no one should ever have to experience. She was shot six times — in her arm, both legs, and her chest. It’s truly a miracle that she is still here. While we are beyond grateful for her life, the reality is that Kassidy now faces a long and painful recovery. She’s dealing with serious injuries, and months of healing! Right now, everyday things most of us take for granted — walking, lifting, even getting out of bed — are incredibly difficult. But Kassidy isn’t just fighting for herself. She’s fighting for her three-year-old daughter, Divinity. Divinity is her whole world. Everything Kassidy does is for her little girl — working hard, providing a safe home, and giving her all the love and stability a child deserves. Seeing her try to comfort her mommy while not fully understanding what happened is heartbreaking. Because of her injuries, Kassidy is unable to work and has to take time off to heal. Unfortunately, bills don’t stop when life does. Rent is still due. Groceries still need to be bought. Utilities still have to be paid. The last thing she should have to worry about right now is how she’s going to keep a roof over her daughter’s head.We are asking for help to support Kassidy and Divinity during this incredibly difficult time.
