On June 4th, Kassy Johnson — a devoted single mom of two young children — was life flighted after a tragic and violent car accident. Her small vehicle was T-boned by a semi-truck, crushing the passenger side all the way into the center console. It’s nothing short of a miracle that she survived.

Kassy is now facing an incredibly difficult road to recovery. She sustained multiple serious injuries, including:

• Multiple broken ribs

• A fractured neck and several spinal fractures

• A dislocated shoulder

• A shattered nose, requiring over 25 stitches and future reconstructive surgery

• Severe facial trauma, including the need to reattach her nostril

• A neck brace that she must wear for at least six weeks

Kassy is the sole provider for her children. She supports her family 100% through gig work — delivering for DoorDash, Uber Eats, Walmart Spark, and Instacart. Her vehicle, which was her livelihood, is now totaled. With her injuries and recovery time, she will be unable to work for the foreseeable future.

Just 2.5 years ago, Kassy was overjoyed to purchase her very first home in Spring Valley, Minnesota — a dream she made come true through hard work and faith. Now, that dream is in jeopardy.

Kassy is an active and beloved member of her church in Stewartville. Her faith is strong, and her spirit is resilient, but the challenges ahead — medical expenses, lost income, the need for a new vehicle, and providing for her children — are overwhelming.
