Hello friends! We found out we were expecting June 2, 2024. Everything seemed to be normal the whole pregnancy. Kash was measuring regularly and his heart rate was normal. This was until I went in for an ultrasound at 37 weeks to find out there was something wrong with his heart.

After this initial scan we were sent to Kaiser Permanente of Los Angeles to see a pediatric cardiologist to find out more about what was going on. At 38 weeks they informed us our son had a severe case of HLHS. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) is a rare and life threatening congenital heart disease. In Kash’s case only half of his heart is working meaning he is not able to pump blood throughout his body.

In order for Kash to survive he needs a series of three open heart surgeries. These procedures are called the Norwood, Glenn, and the Fontan. He is expected to get the Norwood within his first week of life.

The road ahead will be tough and extended, involving several months of recovery and continued medical care. We'll be staying in Los Angeles throughout his recovery, which is expected to take two to six months following the first surgery.

UPDATE: Kash received his Norwood surgery on February 7th and is now in recovery!! He is doing great! 

UPDATE: Kash has received his 2nd big heart surgery the Glenn. Although the surgery went well he is having lots of post op complications.
