My Story (So Far) 

Hi! I'm Karyn Ann, I'm an independent singer-songwriter based in Portland, OR. It’s been nearly 7 years since my last full-length album “Be Loud” was released, and in that time a lot of life has happened. I’ve moved homes multiple times, got divorced, survived a pandemic, and watched women’s rights be rolled back. Needless to say, there’s been a lot of change and plenty to learn and write about. Some of these songs found their way onto my latest EP “Consequence of Fear,” but I have a huge backlog of songs that are now owed their due.

So what now? 

I’ve narrowed down my backlog to 6 “must-have” songs that I’ve been playing at shows and with the band over the past year. These songs will be the focus of the record and explore subjects of heartache, scorn and self rediscovery. I also have a “short list” of 2-3 additional tunes as possibilities if time allows and/or creativity spurs a wild hair. I love the idea of allowing space for art to be made in the moment.

I will be working with recording engineer/musician/record producer Patrick Tetreault at OutGo South studios in Sheffield, AL, in the heart of historic Muscle Shoals, AL where the sound of soul music was defined back in the 60s. With your help, I believe that we can make a kick-ass record, and show the world that fancy labels or corporate riches aren’t needed to make incredible music.

The Goal

Our goal is to raise $10,000, which will cover production, studio rental/recording costs, and the cost of session musicians. Simply put, working with top-notch musicians and producers in a studio steeped in such history ain't cheap. As an alternative to traditional crowdfunding campaigns that often involve pre-purchasing goods like CDs, vinyl, and other merchandise at various tiers, I’m am asking you to donate any amount you feel comfortable with to help make my next record the best it can be!
