Support Karter's Recovery After Bike Accident
Donation protected
Tuesday evening, March 4th, Karter (11 yrs old) was returning home with a friend, riding his electric bike through an empty parking lot. His mom gave him the bike for Christmas after going through four, pedal-bikes previously.
Unfortunately, on this ride, he didn't wear a helmet. His face was the first to hit the concrete base of a light pole at high speed. It's assumed the bike was more than he could handle.
Karter is in the ICU at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
He fractured his right eye socket in multiple places, the cartilage and sinus areas in his nose "exploded," and a skull fracture in his forehead. Our fingers are crossed he makes a full recovery. We can't say enough about the emergency technicians, doctors and nurses at Primary Children's PICU - world class.
Needless to say, any kind donations are welcome. Karter's mom, Ashlee, is a single mom and works full-time as a CNA in-home nurse. She won't leave his bedside.
All proceeds will go towards Karter's recovery, including medical bills, medication costs, deductibles, Mom's lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and finally a new pedal bike for Karter. We plan to be future champions of children wearing bike helmets. Any extra donations will be used to purchase helmets for kids and donated to a like charity.
Please contact your State legislature to amend legislation regarding mandatory children's safety standards for electric bikes/motorcycles.
