Hello,
I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my 2 year old son Karter and our family.
My son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on March 7, 2022.
After a few doctors visits and pushback from doctors, I brought Karter into the emergency room after noticing the swollen lymph node’s on his neck and face that hadn’t changed in size over the course of a couple weeks. I never expected to be leaving the hospital with a cancer diagnosis. Karter’s diagnosis completely turned our world upside down. As a full-time working parent, single mom, and the sole income provider I have to take a lot of time off from work while he is receiving his chemotherapy treatment. I also have two other children, Marielle my daughter who is 10 & Joshua my son who is 8 that have also been affected by this as well. Karter is in the induction phase of his Chemotherapy and is expected to have to undergo treatment for the next 2 1/2 years. Karter is currently receiving his cancer treatment and care at Luries Children's Hospital . While I have medical insurance our family still has regular financial responsibilities that I am struggling to make since I am taking so many days from work yo help take care of my sick child. I was very hesitant to create a gofund me as I often do not like to share my problems with my world, but I have to tuck my pride aside because we need help. We would be using this fundraiser money to pay for our housing, utilities, transportation, and food costs. This will allow me time to work with my employer on a plan to return to work and still make sure my son is getting the treatment he needs.
Of course this is the abbreviated version of our story, and a paragraph could never divulge all the trials and conflict we’ve experienced this last few weeks.
Thank you so much for reading our story, our family would be extremely grateful for any help you can provide.
If you can’t help us financially keeping us in your prayers and/ or sharing our story is more than enough help that will still be deeply appreciated.
PSA: Parents please advocate for your children’s health, had I not insisted additional testing be done Karter might not be receiving the treatment he needs now. Remember, You know your child best!!!
