My niece, Karsyn, was recently diagnosed with MALS, a rare vascular disorder caused by the diaphragm's ligament compressing the celiac artery and nearby nerves. This has led to chronic abdominal pain, nausea, and severe dominant pain after almost every meal. The journey to this diagnosis has been long and difficult, with countless doctor appointments that offered no answers, all while Karsyn suffered daily. She has missed school, family affairs, extracurricular activities, social events, and so many of the day-to-day things that make up a normal teenage life.
After seeing doctor after doctor, she has finally found a specialist in Chicago who can help. However, this brings new challenges—upcoming travel and medical expenses on top of what they have already paid, out of pocket, for the preliminary testing, round trip to Chicago. Next, they prepare for an upcoming, two-week stay, for Karsyn’s surgery and post-op care. If you know the Rousselle family, you know they are the strongest of the strong. But anyone who has dealt with medical insurance knows how difficult and expensive this process can be, with so many costs not covered.
We are humbly asking for your support in any form—whether it’s a donation, sharing our story, or keeping Karsyn in your prayers. Every bit of help will go toward travel, medical bills, accommodations, and any other unexpected needs, as we work to get Karsyn back to living a healthy, happy life. Thank you so much for being part of our journey and for helping us give Karsyn the chance she deserves.
