After much difficulty conceiving, my son and daughter-in-law are expecting their first daughter in late January 2025. Her name is Karsyn Jane.
On September 19, during what they thought was to be an ordinary anatomy scan, they were informed that their baby girl has a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, a rare condition we'll call CDH, which is best described as an opening in her little tummy wall that is allowing the lower organs and intestines to push up into the chest area, restricting her heart and lungs development. The doctors have informed them that their journey will be long, but we are praying and believing it will be successful.
They have been referred to the CDF program at the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Hannah and TJ will travel to Houston the last week of October where testing will begin and the first of two intrauterine surgeries will be performed around November 3 and then again at 35 weeks gestation. Hannah has been informed that she will need to stay within minutes of the hospital due to the high risk of preterm onset labor. TJ will have to travel back and forth to maintain income for the family.
As you know, both TJ and Hannah are civil servants. TJ serves as a sheriff's deputy for Pawnee County and Hannah as a 911 Supervisor and Reserve Officer for Osage County. While they work long hours both at their full-time jobs and various part-time positions, protecting and serving your neighboring communities, it certainly isn't enough to cover what they are facing over the next 4-5 months. We would like to help alleviate some of the financial burden they will face so that they can focus on loving and healing their precious Karsyn Jane, who is already so loved.
If you can't donate, please support the family with your prayers for Christ's peace and healing for Karsyn and her Mommy and Daddy. I'm a member of #KarsynsKrew
